The Courage to Slow Down

When I imagine Sunday Porch Conversations, I picture two chairs, a warm drink, a long exhale, and the kind of talk that doesn’t need to be fixed or finished. Just felt.
On this first Sunday, let’s talk about slowing down.
Slowing down is countercultural. It asks us to stop measuring our worth by what we produce. It asks us to sit in silence. It brings grief, exhaustion, joy, and truth to the surface — sometimes all at once. And it invites our nervous system to return to a rhythm that feels more like home.
In somatic therapy, we often say: “If you go too fast, you’ll miss the whisper.” That whisper might be your intuition. Your ache. Your boundaries. Or your breath.
This week’s Porch Prompt is:
Where in your life are you moving faster than your soul can keep up?
Let that question stay with you. Scribble it in your journal. Answer it with a walk, a bath, a prayer. There’s no right way — only an honest way.
And if you need a gentle place to return to, this porch will be here. Every Sunday.
With quiet courage,
Kristi
