A Tribute to World Influencers

Mothers’ Day is a time of celebration, reflection, and deep emotion. It’s a day that holds space for joy, gratitude, and love—but also for longing, grief, and complexity. For some, it’s a day to honor the mother who gave them life, while for others, it’s a moment to recognize the women who have stepped into nurturing roles in countless meaningful ways. I like to think of this day as “World Influencer Day”—a day to celebrate all the women who embody the spirit of a mother by caring for and nurturing others at great personal cost, whether they’ve given birth or not.
On this World Influencer Day, let’s honor the women who have taken on the roles of mother, aunt, caretaker, cheerleader, provider, mentor, friend, counselor, and so much more. This includes mothers who foster other people’s children, opening their hearts and homes to provide safety and love; women who have taken on the responsibility of a child when a neighbor or family member could not, stepping in with unwavering commitment; and adoptive mothers who have chosen to build their families through the beautiful journey of adoption. Let’s also celebrate the grandmothers, aunts, and even nieces who have stepped into guardian roles, becoming steadfast protectors and nurturers for a child in need. These women encourage and influence everyone they come across, leaving an indelible mark on the world through their selfless love.
To the mothers who have given birth, who have poured their hearts into raising their children, thank you. Your sacrifices—often silent and unseen—have shaped generations. The sleepless nights, the endless worries, the unwavering support—you’ve given so much of yourself, and the world is better for it. Your influence reaches far beyond your family, touching lives through the values you’ve instilled in your children. And to those of you who bear the deep pain of estrangement, whose children have made difficult choices that keep you separated, or whose children are in the military, incarcerated, or simply unable to speak with you due to distance or circumstance—your pain is seen. The ache of longing for connection, the quiet grief of separation, and the strength it takes to hold hope in your heart are profound. You are not forgotten on this day, and your love for your children, despite the distance, remains a powerful force.
To the women who have mothered in other ways, your impact is just as profound. Perhaps you’ve been a guiding light to a niece or nephew, a steady hand for a friend in need, or a mentor to someone searching for direction. Maybe you’ve nurtured a community, cheered on a struggling soul, or provided care when no one else could. You, too, are a mother in spirit, and your gentle touch and kind words have changed lives in ways you may never fully know. I speak from lived experience as an aunt, caretaker, friend, and counselor—roles that have taught me the depth of love and sacrifice it takes to nurture others, often at the expense of my own needs.
Mothers’ Day, or World Influencer Day as I like to call it, can also be a tender time for those who feel the ache of loss—those who have lost their mothers, those who long to be mothers, or those whose relationships with their mothers are complicated. To you, I offer compassion and a reminder that you are not alone in your feelings. This day is yours too, to feel whatever emotions arise, to honor your journey, and to find solace in the love that surrounds you, whether from chosen family, friends, or the memories you hold dear.
The essence of World Influencer Day lies in recognizing the women whose influential reach has impacted the nations through their smiles, gentle touches, and kind words. These women give of themselves to lift others up, making the world a brighter, kinder place through their love and care.
To every woman who has chosen to embody the spirit of a world influencer, thank you. May you feel seen, cherished, and loved this Mothers’ Day. Your nurturing presence heals and uplifts us all, mind, body, and soul.
With deep gratitude and a warm embrace,
